The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at its lowest level since 2002 with a fall on the day of 1.3%, along with the S & P which fell 1.1%. The Nasdaq was marginally better down less than 1%. Telecoms and materials were the best performing groups of the day, with utilities and energy being the worst.
